The God of miracles

It’s 2021. We are still in a global pandemic. A lot has changed, but then again, some things are “same-same, but different”, like Colour Conference 2021. Only a few more weeks to go and I’m personally getting so excited when I try to imagine in what a miraculous way God is going to move in the lives of His girls. Because even though Colour is this global conference, we serve a very personal God.

If you are familiar with Colour Conference – around this time of the year, we often hear of women talking about their ‘Colour Miracle’, or a specific ‘Colour Moment’, but sometimes I have probably missed my miracles or moments because I was looking for some major moment where God unveils something so clearly right in front of me. But God is so trustworthy and faithful and personal. He is in the big moments, but then He is also found in the moments I didn’t even expect Him to do the miraculous for me. I want to share my Colour miracle with you – my moment that I was completely unaware of at the time!

My husband and I got married in March 2005, we were young and wanted to wait a few years before having children, however, God had other plans, and on our first anniversary I found out I was pregnant. Keegan was born in November 2006. What a blessing this little boy was! Of Course, we couldn’t wait for him to have a sibling when he was about 2 or 3 years old. Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan and we found ourselves seeing a doctor, having treatment, and everything that goes with it.

In 2011 I had an ectopic pregnancy and they had to remove the entire fallopian tube at which point, we were informed that we would now only have a 35% chance of falling pregnant if all was normal. This news resulted in us making a decision to just accept that we had already been blessed with one amazing child and that maybe this was the plan for our lives. We made peace and moved on.

Then came Colour Conference 2017. It was the year with that very special moment where Pastor Bobbie specifically prayed for women walking the infertility journey – she encouraged anyone on this journey themselves to stand or we could even stand on behalf of a friend. I found myself on my feet before she had even finished explaining, and I just knew I had to stand on behalf of 2 of my very dear girlfriends, both of whom had been on this journey for many years. I remember I prayed so hard and with such conviction for them that the tears were just streaming down my face.

Fast forward to Colour Conference 2018, God had been at work. Both of the friends that I had stood up on behalf of had now been blessed with beautiful children through adoption – absolute miracle stories!! However, the biggest miracle for me was that I had just found out I was pregnant, a couple of days before Colour. A desire I laid down before God so long ago, something we stopped ‘trying’ for years ago, and here I found myself, back at Colour, pregnant! My husband and I were totally taken aback by this, God clearly knew the desires of our hearts better than we did.

How beautiful to now look back at that Colour moment in 2017 and to realise that God was working in me right then and there and that we would have an absolute miracle baby. And He did all of that while I was totally standing in the gap for my friends! Beautiful Jamie Christian le Roux was born in November 2018, 12 years after his brother. I now know how much I yearned for this child and am in absolute awe of the miracle that God has done in my life. And to be honest, I could not imagine my children’s age gap any differently. God is a God of miracles.

We cannot always join all the dots along the way in our lives but we can choose to trust, love, and serve a God that knows and sees deeply into our hearts and our situations and loves us more than we can imagine.

Big or small, God is in the moment! Always. This year Colour might not look the way we are used to, the big arena filled with girls, but God doesn’t change, I believe He is forever working behind the scenes to bring breakthroughs and miracles, and Colour Conference has always been the perfect atmosphere for that. I’m so expectant to see what God has in store for us all, across the globe, as we lean into Colour Online together. A truly personal Colour experience, with our Personal God.
